The Containers of Summer

TIMELESS TRIO

You’ll enjoy garden beauty all summer with the prolific blooms of cleome and verbena. Their bright red and pale purple hues are set off with a background of chartreuse thanks to ‘Sweet Caroline Light Green’ ipomoea. You’ll want to place this planting in a full-sun location for maximum bounty. Water frequently during hot summer spells, being careful not to overwater.

Senorita Rosalita® Cleome Superbena® Royale Red Verbena ‘Sweet Caroline Light Green’ Ipomoea

GREEN AND PURPLE PAIR

If you love the simplicity of green plants, try this simple combination of hosta and torenia, which adds a small pop of color to the container. The large hosta leaves are an eyecatching display, while the smaller leaves of the torenia help to fill in the space at the base. Position in an area where they can get partial shade and keep watered, but do not allow them to become soggy. The hosta is a perennial and will come back year after year.
